My love of the outdoors
started at “the pond.”

Since I was a little kid, the pond has been my special place. Owned and maintained by my dear cousins and introduced to me by my grandfather as the family fishing spot, it now means so much more to me.

It is part of my childhood. It is family memories. It is soulful, it is pure northern Michigan beauty.

This gallery represents years and years of visits.

In this gallery of images, you will see a weather-worn little building where my cousins make maple syrup each spring when the sap is flowing from the maple trees. Named after my Great Uncle Einer, Einer’s Sugar Bush is just one charming part of the property.

The pond, which sits beyond the stand of maples, is where I spend a lot of my time when I am on the property. From shooting sun rises, sunsets, and the majesty of fall colors to many different varieties of wildlife, the pond has so much to excite the senses. On any day, you can see deer, bald eagles, beavers, ducks, geese, swans, and cranes.

After decades of shooting, I never feel like I have finished capturing the beauty of “the pond.”
